I DO!!! I DO, JAROD ROSE!!!

ETA: Blue Nile. Niiiiiiiice.

ETAA: Don’t forget to add the value of the ring onto your homeowner insurance policy if it’s over $1,500 or so. Most policies cover up to $1,500 in theft from the home IIRC.

I guess you sort of make this image in your head of what the people on here are like and sometimes what’s in your head is massively different that actual life.

How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?

One of my favorite (joking) lines about marriage comes from a stupid chick flick called Life as We Know It.

Guy 1 is asking guy 2 about marriage.

Guy 2 says: “Imagine a prison, and then don’t change anything.”

Good luck! I hope it goes well, and I hope someone takes pictures of it.

I proposed to my now (3 months as of Monday!) wife on the High Line in NYC after going to the auto show in April of 2014. Since it’s a fairly public place, someone noticed and was nice enough to take a picture as it happened. Afterwards, he and his friends walked over (giving us a round of applause) and agreed to email it me. It’s not a great picture, but it captures the moment spontaneously, and I’m thankful for that.

Nice, for xmas I got my gf this necklace from Blue Nile. It’s in a circle, to say, “this isn’t the ring, but it is a shiny ring-shaped item, so you know, other shiny ring-shaped items may be in the future.”

I think the coverage on jewellery varies heavily between providers, and if it’s anything like the difference in auto coverage between US states your coverage minimums may be mandated by state laws or what not.

Around here, typically policies will cover for up to $3000 for theft, and some even offer coverage in the event you happen to lose it accidentally. This is typically built into base policies, but additional coverage beyond stated limits tends to be pretty expensive (relative to the policy cost, anyway).

Is Blue Nile supposed to be awesome? Anytime I see jewellery I can't think of anything else to say other than, "It looks nice."

It’s great! I love that car, and my 3- year old does too. She’s always asking to ride in, “the brown car.”

It had a slow cranking issue, and a host of other electrical issues. Turned out to just be a defective battery that wasn't putting out full voltage. It's running better than ever now.

I may try to crack a spark plug loose today. In the mean time, I’ve found that the trim web stuff around the doors and the headliner are really affordable, and carpets aren’t bad either. I think the majority of the interior can be put back right for about $1200 (counting, not excluding) the windows. Once I get the floor and rockers stabilized.

I’ve actually been focusing on making it possible to roll the Ranchero in and out of the shop to enable a rocker fix, so I’m trying to come up with upper front coilover mounts that will work and a good set of coilovers, so that the next step is tying the steering together and putting on wheels.

Kinja'd!!! JR1 > RamblinRover Luxury-Yacht
01/16/2016 at 18:10

Kinja'd!!!0

How did the spark plugs go? Did you ever do anything with the diesel? And that’s good the parts won’t be too expensive. It sounds like a pretty good deal.

And I thought you had it rolling? Or did you mean getting the Ranchero rolling?

Kinja'd!!! Ramblin Rover - The Vivisector of Solihull > JR1
01/16/2016 at 18:21

Kinja'd!!!1

Didn’t get to the plugs. I ended up working on the Benz where it died at work(busted throttle cable, now fixed), and then a couple hours over at work - since I was there - CADing the geometry of the upper suspension mounts for the Ranchero. It was the Ranchero I was talking about getting rolling, since I want it mobile so I don’t have to have both bays tied up when the Lunk is in. I also did some straightening work on the Ranchero’s tailgate, then had to go after a suspicious noise in my mom’s car.

Anyway, a headliner is only a couple of hundred bucks, we have a source on seat fabric, and I know multiple people with vinyl capable sewing machines.

Well, it was a repeat of our first real date back in 2012. I figured that helped start off our relationship, so it was a good way to start off the rest of our lives. We also had a great view of the college where we met from the High Line, so that was a nice bonus. She’s not a Jalop, but she’s also an engineer, so anything mechanical interests her. She also loves it when I’m nerdy, and the NYIAS brings out my nerdy side in a big way.

I named my cat ‘Cammie’, so I think I’ve fulfilled my Jalop-naming quota for a while. We’ve decided that when we have kids in a few years, she gets choice for a boy’s name and I get to chose a girl’s name. I guess we’ll see what happens!
